Another year, another video for NBS Freshmen Orientation Programme!
After solo-filming their camps since 2014, I'm glad to have my wife, Madeline, on board with me this year to help out as the second videographer. Also, this marks my 5th video for them!
It's unfortunate that there have been various negative media against University Freshmen Orientation Camps throughout the years. However, we can't neglect the fact that such programmes and camps did help to kick-start the students' university life and enable them to forge new and long-lasting friendships. Following through their 4D3N camp, we witness teamwork amongst the students, burst of energy from their cheers, encouragement from one another for the challenges and not forgetting the caring seniors who constantly ensure that everyone have enough water under the hot sun. Such positivity and beauty of orientation programmes are definitely forgotten by the media.
We are honoured to be part of their camp, documenting the start of university life and hundreds of news friendships, even though it has definitely been challenging to run around with people 7 years younger than us.
It was also through this passion project (something different from documenting weddings) that allow us to feel young again and reminded us on why we are in this photography/ videography industry, and that is to capture all the essence and energy of everyone.
